So last week ISU was on spring break, as well as my brother’s high school, and we decided to go on a mini-vacation. This was definitely not our first trip to Minnesota but it was our first trip to the Mall of America. We stayed there for three days, shopped two days and recovered one day. I had heard about the size of this mall from other people but I never realized just how big it was. It was enormous! By the end of the second day we couldn’t even feel our feet. I felt like I had worked a 12 hour shift. We didn’t go on any of the rides there but there was a ton of shouting going on from kids who had the time of their lives. I found the stores to be a bit dull, though. We have a majority of those stores in Iowa so it wasn’t anything new. One of my favorite stores was Disney. I LOVE anything Disney. I went in hoping to buy a stuffed snowman, Olaf from “Frozen,” but unfortunately he wasn’t there.. but they did have scenes from “Frozen” playing on the TV so we were able to relax for a bit before moving on to the next store. The American Girl store there was pretty neat, too. I read a ton of them when I was in elementary school and it was just cool to be able to see all of the books and characters there. They had a cafe that was all pink, and so cute, but we didn’t stop by. There was another store there, I can’t recall the name of it, but it was like stepping back into the ’60s. Everything in the store was from that time period and the employees were even dressed up like they would have back then. I felt like we time traveled! That is one store that I have not seen here in Iowa yet. There may be one, but I have not come across it yet. The weather there was absolutely freezing! It was so cold. I think that, on average, it was like 20 degrees but felt like 5. But it is officially spring so we can look forward to that. The snow will melt and the sun will come out! Soon… I hope.
