“A New Day. A New Place. A New Life. In the past few years, Mclean has pretended to be so many different people that she hardly remembers who she really is anymore. The adorable guy next door might be able to help her figure it out. But is she ready for it?”
For those of you who have not heard of Sarah Dessen, or have not ready any of her novels, I encourage you to do so. If you enjoy reading young adult novels you will love her books. Most of her novels are similar: about a teenage girl who meets a guy and throughout the book she is able to overcome something in her life that she has been avoiding. I discovered this particular author in high school and loved how, as a writer, she is able to take a reader and make them feel as though they are the ones that a certain book is about. It is so easy to lose oneself in her writing. Mclean’s life had been changed once her parents got divorced and her mom remarried. The world she was accustomed to and enjoyed was taken away from her and replaced with one that only helped her run from her problems. Anyone who has dealt with divorce will understand her thoughts and feelings, they’re ones that many children of divorced parents deal with themselves. While reading Sarah Dessen’s novels I always find myself reminiscing about my high school years and all of the things that I was involved in. If you haven’t read any of her work I’d recommend reading which ever novel comes your way first. They are all great books!
