A Beauty Refined by Tracie Peterson

A Beauty Refined“Phoebe Van Bergen, the daughter of a German count, is excited to visit America for the first time while her father purchases sapphires in Helena, Montana. Little does she know, however, that her father’s intentions – both for her and the gemstones – are not what she thinks. Ian Harper, a lapidary working in Helena, finds the dignified young woman staying at the Broadwater Hotel more than a little intriguing. Yet the more he gets to know her, the more he realizes that her family story is based on a lie – a lie she has no knowledge of. And Ian believes he knows the only path that will lead her to freedom. Meeting Ian has changed everything for Phoebe, and she begins to consider staying in America, regardless of her father’s plans. But she may not be prepared for the unexpected danger that results when her family’s deception begins to unravel.”

This novel, A Beauty Refined, is the second book in the series Sapphires Brides. I’ll be honest and say that I have not read the first novel but I greatly enjoyed reading this book. Tracie Peterson has never once left me disappointed with a story or series and this book lives up to that. Tracie really does know how to grab a reader’s full attention and keep it even after the book is over. The plot within this story was well laid out. It was intense at times but that added to the mystery within and intensified it. The saying “the truth will set you free” may be one that we don’t always want to hear or know but in the end the truth really does set us free and helps us become the people that we were meant to be. I highly recommend this novel to all readers! The historical details within this book make you feel as though you travel back in time and join the characters themselves. I received this book from Bethany House in exchange for an honest review, which I have provided.
