“Colin Hancock is giving his second chance his best shot. With a history of violence and bad decisions behind him and the threat of prison dogging his every step, he’s determined to walk a straight line. To Colin, that means applying himself single-mindedly toward his teaching degree and avoiding everything that proved destructive in his earlier life. Reminding himself daily of his hard-earned lessons, the last thing he is looking for is a serious relationship. Maria Sanchez, the hardworking daughter of Mexican immigrants, is the picture of conventional success. With a degree from Duke Law School and a job at a prestigious firm in Wilmington, she is a dark-haired beauty with a seemingly flawless professional track record. And yet Maria has a traumatic history of her own, one that compelled her to return to her hometown and left her questioning so much of what she once believed. A chance encounter on a rain-swept road will alter the course of both Colin’s and Maria’s lives, challenging deeply held assumptions about each other and ultimately, themselves. As love unexpectedly takes hold between them, they dare to envision what a future together could possible look like… until menacing reminders of events in Maria’s past begin to surface…”
As usual with Nicholas Sparks novels, he does not disappoint his readers. While I enjoy all of his novels there are some that I would recommend over others. But this novel was riveting! The characters, scenes, writing, and everything in between was amazing! I got this book about a year ago but with everything going on my life in the last year, reading had to be put on the back burner while I focused on things that required my immediate attention. I started this novel towards the end of last week and found myself completely engrossed in the novel within the first chapter. Nicholas Sparks is a genius when it comes to storytelling and pulling his readers into a story. If I didn’t have to work I would have read the book in one day but even with working I was able to read it within three days. Colin’s character was written with a bad boy persona while Maria was the one that was almost impossible to dislike. I’m not a huge fan of mystery novels due to one thing: I can never figure out what is going one until the end of the book when the discovery is made. I read them sometimes if a friend recommends one but otherwise I don’t really go out of my way to find one. See Me does have a mystery aspect to it with a number of creepy acts within the pages. Not long after Maria and Colin enter into a relationship she becomes a target of revenge due to a decision she had been a part of back in her past. Once small discoveries begin to be made the disturbing acts increase from creepy to full on stalker. At that point in the story it is almost impossible to put the book down and step away from it. Questions are raised by then and answers are desired, no matter what time of night it. I absolutely loved this book! The ending blew my mind. I had no idea who had been behind all of those devious acts of revenge until the discovery was made at the end. I highly recommend this novel to everyone! It is phenomenal!! I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did!
