About Me

ISU Senior Year 2016 841Hey there! Welcome to Yuliya’s Blessings!! This is a blog where I will be posting book reviews, traveling reviews, and some updates on what is going on in my life. I’m hoping that by blogging I can help others find great novels to read, wonderful and exciting places to visit, and uplifting words of faith. I’m a Christian and Jesus is a huge part of my life. All of my decisions are made with His help. Whenever I need advice or help in life I ask Him and He has never let me down. He is always there when you need Him. I consider my life to be a blessing, as well as the opportunities I am presented with and my interests. After all, there’s a reason for everything (at least I choose to believe that there is). Years ago I feel in love with reading and since then it’s been one of my favorite things to do. Especially on a rainy or snowy day with a cup of hot tea or cocoa. If you’re a reader you’ll know what I mean 🙂 It’s prefect reading weather! Anyway the books that convinced me that reading is awesome were the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I love historical books, places, well anything historical really. I felt as though I had been placed in the books myself and that I was the main character. To this day, if I had to choose which author was my absolute favorite it would be…. Laura Ingalls Wilder. I have a ton of favorite authors but she is my utmost favorite. Her books remind me of my childhood because a great deal of it was spent reading those books and wanting the life that she had. Books were also my way of traveling around the world back then. When reading a book I always felt as though I traveled to that exact location. Even though I am now able to travel to those actual places, books are still one of my favorite ways to spend my free time. March-April 2015 052Here’s some information about me: I live in south central Iowa in a town that has a little over 7,000 people. Some would consider that to be a small town, others would say it’s a big town. But me? It’s perfect! 🙂 I absolutely love it here and would never want to leave. Unless it’s for a week or so to travel. Otherwise, Iowa is my home. The summers here are extremely humid and the winters are bitterly cold. But if you want to have all four season then it’s the place to live! I’m from a small family, just my Mom and younger brother, but my Mom’s whole side of the family lives within a thirty mile radius so we are always together. I may have one sibling but my cousins all feel like my younger brothers and sisters. OH! Something really cool about me is… I’m from Ukraine. We moved here when I was little so, unfortunately, I don’t have an accent. I wish I did because I love people with accents, but I don’t. I graduated from Iowa State University (Go Cyclones!) in May of 2016 with a double major in English and Child Adult Family Services. The job that I got after graduation isn’t within either one of my fields but I enjoy it! Who would have thought that someone who loves English and has a Human Service degree would be working in finance. Definitely not me! But I love my job and I’m pleased with the direction of my career choices so far. If I have to be up early every morning then I’d rather go somewhere that I’m going to enjoy being at rather than watch as the hands on the clock go slowly by. My ultimate goal in life is to become a writer and spread the word of Jesus through my writing. If it’s meant to be then it will happen and if not, I got a huge list of books that I can read! I hope you guys enjoy this blog as much as I love writing on it! May you find great novels to read, amazing places to see, and inspirational words of faith through Yuliya’s Blessings. God bless each and every one of you! 🙂
