Personal Update: May 2016 (Official College Graduate!)

ISU Senior Year 2016 840Big news folks! Well, not so big if you read the heading to this post but, nevertheless, it is exciting news. I am now officially an Iowa State University Graduate with a Bachelors of Arts in English and a Bachelors of Science in Child Adult Family Services. Woo-hoo!! It feels amazing to be all done with school. If you notice the date of the post before this one you’ll see that I haven’t blogged about anything since January. January was about five months ago! I had thought that last semester was the most difficult semester of my life. But, if only I had known what lay in store for me this semester, I would have enjoyed last semester. So during the first three and a half years of my adventure at ISU I worked two part time jobs, and was a full time student with two majors. Continue reading

Personal Update: December 2015

Phone Pictures December 2015 1736It feels as though it has been years since I last posted, but realistically it has only been a few months. This semester has been one of the most stressful ones that I have ever had in my college years. I’m not sure exactly why it was so stressful but I hope that I never have to go through something as stressful as that ever again. Anyway, back in October I had to quit my second job. I’d worked there since the first semester of my freshman year so it wasn’t an easy decision to make. But after many all nighters, almost three back to back all nighters to be exact, the decision had been made for me. Unless I wanted to drop school and postpone my education, one of my jobs had to go. At first it was kind of weird to have extra time but after a while I began to notice it as a blessing in disguise from God. He had seen me struggling with my classes and sent that stress my way to show me what was important and what could be eliminated from my life. He helped me go from failing about four classes to passing every class with higher marks than I thought I could possibly achieve after having a rough start to the semester. This next upcoming semester is my last one at Iowa State University and I am more than ready to finally receive my degrees and put an end to this phase of life. Continue reading

One Year Blogiversary!

Be Generous, Be KindToday marks my one year blogiversary! On March 10, 2014, I decided that it was time to start my very own blog. It was something that I had thought about a great deal and after careful consideration I decided that a blog was definitely something that I was meant to do. I love writing and reading and since I haven’t had a lot of time to write in the last few years I decided to divert my available time and attention to reading. I enjoy reading a numerous amount of genre’s and couldn’t just pick one to focus one. After deciding that I would blog about all kinds of books, I discovered that I didn’t want to blog just about books. I wanted to blog about my adventures (few that there may be) as well as my belief in the Lord Jesus Christ. Continue reading

Personal Update: January 2015

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAEven though we are only eleven days into the new year it has been a great one so far. I hope that all of you had wonderful Christmas’ and a terrific start in this new year! I have had one of the best Christmas’ ever this season. I was able to see all of my family for Christmas and then spend a week and a half with my mom and brother. It was nice to be home for a while and be able to take a break from school and work (it was definitely needed). Once grades were finalized and credits added I finally became classified as a senior a semester earlier! Continue reading

Personal Update: November 2014

DSC01506I haven’t posted in a while so I decided to do an update on my life and what I’ve been up to (which isn’t much). When this semester started I assumed that it wouldn’t be much different than my past semesters. As in I would still have a life and time to read and do fun things. Haha!! 🙂 Boy, was I wrong! I’ve been taking 18 credits this semester and between my two part time jobs I’ve been working an average of 38 hours a week (I know, I’m crazy!). But between work and school I’ve had absolutely no extra time to read. I’m even a little behind on my reading for a class. I just keep reminding myself that there are three weeks left of classes, including finals week, and then no homework for three weeks. I absolutely can’t wait! But I couldn’t have done it without the help of our Heavenly Father. Without Him, I wouldn’t be able to do what I do and I am extremely grateful for His love and His help. He has kept me safe and given me great health this semester (which might sound a little silly but one semester I got sick a great deal and it put me behind in my classes). Continue reading

Personal Update: September 2014

South Carolina 2014 082This summer has been a good one for me. Not much happened but it was nice to be able to sit back and relax. As you may have already seen I did manage to go on a trip this summer to Myrtle Beach (Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 2014). If you have already checked out my post about our trip there then you’ll probably notice that this picture looks similar to another one in that post. As I was looking for a picture to add to this post I realized that the last time I used my camera was in June. So this is actually one of the most recent photos I have of me. I hope you like it! 🙂 I did take one online class this summer but it wasn’t too long, only two months, so my summer was still pretty laid back. I was fortunate enough to be able to go see my family every weekend and I know how much they enjoyed having me home for three days each week. At least that’s how I like to think of it 🙂 They’d probably say I was more of a nuisance than anything else but I know that they miss seeing me every weekend (right Daniel?)! Classes officially started last Monday, August 25th. Continue reading

Personal Update: May 2014

Chicago 2013 - Minneapolis 2014 005

Since I haven’t been doing anything productive recently I decided to post an update on my personal life. I am now half way done with my degrees at Iowa State. Yay! 🙂 Half way done! I had my one and only final on May 8th. I was really lucky this year. It’s not often that someone only has one final, and even then it was just an essay question. I am extremely grateful for God’s help in giving me the motivation to finish up the semester.  I couldn’t have done it without Him. By mid-April I just didn’t care about doing well on my schoolwork, I just wanted it to be all over lol (too excited about our upcoming summer vacation!). So once I finished up my one exam I headed to Half-Price Books and rewarded myself by buying more books. Now instead of having about thirty unread books on my bookcase I have around forty. This summer looks like it’s going to be extremely busy! That Friday I went into surgery early in the morning for hardware removal in my ankle (as you can see in the picture I am in a boot and will be for a few more weeks).
